Tell us about yourself and your role in your organisation

As a Director in the Customer Delivery Team, my role is to provide pre-project sales and consultancy to banks and financial technology entities to implement digital payments, security and network services for Mastercard.  For the last 11 years, I have led cross-functional global and virtual teams to sell and deliver innovative, complex, multi-market products, services and digital programs in the Benelux, France, Nordics and Baltics. This role requires a good understanding of our products, network operations, business objectives and most importantly, how to work together as a virtual team with internal and external customers.

What does diversity and inclusion mean to you?

Diversity and inclusion mean that I have a sense of belonging and that others feel they can be themselves. It means that my voice will be heard by others.  It means that I am in a safe environment where we can have a free exchange of ideas, opinions and suggestions and that I can actively contribute to a meaningful outcome.  It means that I can be myself and that I will not be limited in pursuing opportunities for both personal and professional self-development and growth to reach my full potential.

How do you promote and support gender diversity and inclusion in your place of work?

I am the co-Chair of Mastercard’s Women Leadership Network in Waterloo, Belgium, a global community that helps Mastercard be the employer, brand, and partner of choice for women by empowering female leaders at all levels.  Our mission is to inspire success, enable career enrichment, and encourage entrepreneurial leadership.  We promote gender diversity by bringing in speakers who are inspirational thought leaders, sponsoring an executive mentorship programme and delivering events on emotional self-care and professional empowerment.

Tell us why you have chosen to support the Rise & Lead Women?

For the past 3 years, I have been an active contributor to Rise & Lead Women as a speaker, mentor and advisor since I believe in the value that this organisation delivers to women.  Personally, I believe that it is important to give back to help other women achieve their goals and contribute to their self-development.  Rise & Lead Women brings together leaders, both women and men, who are positive role models and want to contribute to gender-balanced leadership in a more inclusive world.  It is possible to change the world one heart and mind at a time, and by working together with other like-minded leaders, we can accelerate that change. I want to be a part of that positive change to make our world a better place.

As an Advisory Board member of Rise & Lead Women, how do you envision promoting our mission and making an impact on the community?

As a new Advisory Board member of Rise & Lead Women, I envision bringing together a group of engaged leaders who will use their experience, influence and network to promote gender-balanced leadership in their company, community and culture. To change society, we need to change ideas and take actions that contribute to achieving that on a daily basis.  We can share best practices, collaborate and engage others to take specific actions that will bring about systemic change to increase diversity and promote inclusion and belonging in our respective communities.
