Day 3: Leading Others: Understand the differentiating styles of women in leadership  by Poonam Barua

In order to get the work done as a leader, you need to influence people outside of your authority. In a team-oriented environment, a leader works with fellow members of the organisation to produce results, thereby contributing to the overall success of the organisation. Women need to understand how gender is linked to work and organisations.

What are the factors that influence how women deal with the external world, including leadership positions? How is this affected by social and cultural processes? How do you make critical decisions?

In this session, you will:

  • Understand the concept of leadership and gender
  • Become aware of your strengths and values
  • Learn about Emotional Intelligence and when to apply it
  • Differentiate between assertiveness and aggression
  • Make critical decisions and stand by your decision without feeling you’ve hurt others
  • Focus on strategic work, delegate the rest, and manage your time effectively
