Representing Allianz for the initiative ‘#sheleads’

The Germany-based AllianzU leadership development program “#sheleads” began in 2011 and has had 409 participants to date. #sheleads is a sponsorship program for women in executive management who have been in their current positions at least 18 months and are actively seeking a larger leadership role at Allianz. The focus is a one-to-one sponsor relationship with a senior leader, who actively guides the participant through career development, creates visibility and exposure opportunities, and opens doors for her next career step in Allianz.

The program also includes diverse facilitated learnings, peer coaching, virtual fireside chats with top management, and individual online learning with a time investment of roughly 8 hours per month over 12 months. Participants convene at an annual forum to connect also with alumni and senior leaders. Since #sheleads launched, Allianz has seen strong developments in gender balance among senior leadership: women’s share in the top executive cluster (“Allianz Global Executives”) has increased from 16.6% to 24.9% since 2015. #sheleads plays an unquestionably critical role: 33 of Allianz Global Executives, or 62% of the entire female population in the highest level of management, are program alumni.
